1967, ever removed the substructure to put on a chassis

I found a 1967 coupe with a nice body and interior but the subframe is totally rotted everywhere. It to me is to me was wanting to be reserected. I have tools and fabrication experience. I have restored two chevys but never ran into a totally rotted subfram issue. On a family bugdget I am hoping to remove the substructure and place it on a different chassis. Has anyone had sucess doing this without purchasing a aftermarket chassis? I'm hoping someone can recommend a newer (80 or up) car that I can find at a yard to strip down and fab together with my substructure. Is there a particular model that anyone has had any luck with. Anyone done this?
