Replaced my speakers tonight....
I ordered 2 pair of Pioneer TS-G6842R 6x8's from Ebay for $39 a pair and decided to give them a whirl. The custon harnesses did not get delivered by UPS tonight so I made my own. I took off the plastic female part of the factory speaker, attached the new wire, then put heat shrink tubing over the ends, and presto! No factory wire cutting necessary. The door speakers went in great but the rear......good Lord! I had to take out the back seat, take off sealtbelts and then all the plastic in the back to get the decklid cover off. What a mess. I am not 16 anymore! All that crawling around is tough on an old man! Well the speakers are in and sound much better than the originals. Better volume with more equalized tone. It was well worth the little money spent and the 4 hours of taking my time on the install. Shaker 500 sounds decent enough for my ruined ears.
