This is what I think car enthusiasts love the most, leaked information about upcoming cars, and Ford is absolutely giving us what we want. According to user TMSBrad at TheMustangSource forums, the new Mustang will be receiving what all Mustang enthusiasts dream about- a power increase.
Yes, the 4.6 L V8 will indeed get a power boost of an unconfirmed number of ponies. I don't expect anything amazing, but I wouldn't stop to think that these beefier numbers will also come along with slightly increased fuel efficiency numbers, as is becoming the standard among automakers who are hoping to entice buyers with the prospect of faster cars that are lighter on the wallet.
Other information revealed through this leak includes a host of bits and pieces about the interior, highlighted i think by this quote "Interior feels more "open" than previous model. May be a result of higher seating position as the greenhouse feels larger." In addition to the roomier cabin, expect better interior trim options including a Grabber Blue interior stitching with a Grabber Blue stripe on the seat as an option for the Grabber Blue Mustang, as well as an orange interior option that "Looks great" along with some others (more details at the source on that.)
But wait- there's more! The exterior will get what sounds like a good looking four pedestal spoiler, and the new Stangs will all have sequential turn signals standard (though it may be possible to turn them off- as they did so on all camo-ed cars we see in spy shots.) Finally, there's a few bits and pieces about performance that sound hopeful. All GTs get 19" wheels standard with Pirelli P-Zero tires (drool) and that sexy hood bulge? That is merely the result of a nice big strut tower brace on GT model.
To wrap up, this leak has also revealed that there will be two terrific new option packages; the Acceleration Package, which i assume makes the car go significantly slower than usual, and the Heritage Performance Package, which I'm sure do nothing related to the mustangs rich heritage and past.
This is terrific news if you ask this writer. More power, more performance, more interior colors, more packages, more strut tower braces, a more "open" interior- and the list goes on, What more could you ask for?
I commented in my last post that I think there may actually be people making good informed decisions over at the Ford HQ in Detroit, and I think we just got more proof that I may have been right. This 2010 Mustang is only a refresh, but I think the big shots at FoMoCo are finally seeing they are gonna have to make this a damn good car to fight with the Camaro and Challenger.
