Galpin Auto Sports to build "Project B" concept Mustang, unveil at SEMA 2008

The past several years of speculation by automotive reporters and bloggers have resulted in some outrageous headlines regarding the direction the Ford Mustang is taking during this pivotal period in the brand’s history. It has come to the point where one isn’t sure what to expect when visiting their favorite Mustang enthusiast site every morning.

Please, don’t be shocked by the photo below. It’s just a concept.

The “Project B” is a work in progress that Galpin Auto Sports plans to debut at SEMA this November. Surprisingly enough, the controversial design draws its roots from the current S197 Mustang platform, but by taking several dramatic twists from the original, it quickly becomes hardly recognizable as a Ford Mustang spinoff.

Take the 5.0-stroked twin-supercharged V8 beneath the hood that delivers massive power output. Add to that the wheel assortment – 24 inches in the rear and 22 inches in front – and some stellar 16-inch Wilwood brakes.
Rumor has it that the folks at Galpin have also snuck Ford’s second gen SYNC system into the concept as well.

Autoblog’s Drew Philips is on top of it and hooked up the photos below. Be sure to check them out.

Give us as much feedback on the design and any guesses on what the "B" in Project B might stand for...and where's Project A?

should be interesting how it turns out. i went to GAS to check the place out, and it's pretty wild for a dealership, you can buy a new stang and have them put on whatever you want from SC to body kit. some of their projects are over the top, but that's what i like about it!

sure, i got a few pics. i am from Hawaii, but my sister lives in Sherman Oaks, just a short drive to GAS. i met a friend of mine that lives in California and was having his car worked on at GAS. he has a s197 Roush, w/ a built 331 block w/ a 3.4L whipple on it. he also put in some N2O. his car will be in some mags soon. i'll get those pics up as soon as i can get into photobucket, seems slow right now.
