Promise from Porter: Second Annual Great American Run will top the first

Last year’s first annual Great American Run defied the boundaries of American car outings—the rally began in New York and ended in Las Angeles, making numerous exotic pit stops in between. It was thought that the event could never be replicated, and if so, could never be topped.

Cannonball Run organizer Tim “Maverick” Porter is topping it this year.

The prize has been bumped from an $80k Bad Boy Mustang to a $100,000 minimum prize, with possibility of $1,000,000 depending on the number of entrants.

This year’s Great American Run will begin at the oasis of American ingenuity—the Playboy Mansion in California. Hosted by plenty of Playmates including Hef’s girlfriends Bridget, Holly and Kendra from the hit TV show “The Girls Next Store” and featuring a performance by Grammy-winning hip-hop superstar Ludacris, the first VIP party will be sure to settle in any first-timers who aren’t sure what to expect.

The run commences the following morning and makes top-secret stops each night in five different cities spanning 3,000 miles across the American West. On September 10, the group tears up the Bonneville Salt Flats with a high speed flat-out demo day and on September 12 the surviving vehicles return to the finish line, somewhere in Los Angeles.

Last year’s run was a huge success. So why try to top it this year?

“Last year's nightly VIP parties were such a hit with the competitors that we decided this year to start this event off with a bang,” explains Porter. “It's every man's fantasy to party with playmates and Hefner at the Playboy mansion before they die. Unfortunately, most will never have the chance to check that one off their to-do list. Fast cars, naked ladies, celebrities, rock stars, great food and drink, kicking it all off at the world famous Playboy Mansion, and living life to the fullest on a week without limits – that's just the Great American Run.”

To enter, drivers must pay $20,000, a fee that includes accommodations, the kickoff event at the Playboy Mansion and an unforgettable party each night in each of host cities along the way. The fee also includes the bump in prize money. Above all, the price tag of providing this matchless experience is priceless.

“In the American tradition of independence, this run has something—everything--for both the participant and the spectator—money, fame, adrenaline and glory," says Porter. "Catch them if you can!”

Interested drivers can enter online at GreatAmericanRun.com, by e-mailing shannon@thegreatamericanrun.com or by calling toll free in the US on 800-619-8593. European entrants, please contact the UK office at 011 44 1403 276191

Sponsors include media partners National Lampoon, Car Collector Magazine and Makes and Models, as well as Obsidian Enterprises, Ultimate Bad Boy, Laser Protector, and others. The Run welcomes additional enquiries from brands who want to reach the Run’s super-affluent audience of fans and participants with its special combination of immersive and experimental brand marketing. Sponsors can call 800.619.8593 or 714.391.2486.
