Limited edition releases are a bittersweet commodity—on one hand, they’re generally loaded with perks that cause consumers to drool, but on the other hand, they’re limited. Ford MoCo recently responded to the overwhelming demand for 2009 GT500KR Mustangs by
boosting their production numbers.
Rumors have been circulating that the company would do the same for this year’s Bullitt, another popular limited edition Stang. Unfortunately for the McQueenites who missed the boat on the 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt, the company has decided not to boost the production run of the retro remakes, keeping the figure set at 7,700 vehicles.
Still, this is a relief for those who have gotten their orders in, as the Bullitt’s value will not drop as a result of any production boost.
5,600 of the cars will be produced this year and 2,100 will be produced for the vehicle’s 2009 return. Ford has confirmed that the vehicles will continue to be numbered sequentially and will not start over with the ’09 model.
The company also noted that, despite rumors, the glass roof and 45th anniversary badging will not be an option for the ’09 Bullitt. Ford has listed the starting price
on its site at $31,075.
