"Interceptor" actually refers to Ford's Crown Victoria P71 model "Police Interceptor" cruiser.

The P71 Crown Vic is basically the same car as the P74 (civilian) model CV with a stiffer set of shocks, heavy duty alternator, and a couple other minor differences.

The big myth is that the "interceptor" refers to a "special" engine the cop cars get. Cruisers are built on the exact same assembly line in St. Thomas, Ontario, and get the same 4.6 L engine as the Crown Vic and Grand Marquis. It's the same engine. Civilian models have a programmed speed limit of 111 while the cruisers are programmed for 130.

The "4.6L Interceptor" badge on GTBabe99's car is an aftermarket item that is widely available on eBay.
yes, i did get the badges off ebay, $5 ea.
but back on topic, anyone have s197's as cop cars where you live? there are none where i'm at. seems like the police dept is black balling ford for import cars.
