Bold Moves: Ford Mustang with 427ci Chevrolet Corvette engine from Muscle Carz

The Mustang and its Chevy rival, the Corvette, have battled for the support of gearheads for years. But Muscle Carz, a Texas shop, has made it possible to choose both camps with a new S197 that incorporates the V8 heart of the Vette under its hood.

Of course, everyone’s familiar with the 427 in Mustangs with the Roush 427R, but Muscle Carz has taken a Procharged C5R—not the usual 7.0L—Chevrolet LS-series engine and dumped it under the hood of this ’06 Stang as if we wouldn’t notice.

This engine is built with billet connecting rods, a billet crankshaft and forged pistons to develop either 758hp at 6 psi or 1015hp at 18 psi. The Corvette six-speed behind the engine certainly adds to the fun, as do the 20-inch wheels. But they still don’t quite explain the $70,000 pricetag. Yikes.

She is a looker under the hood...but that’s about it.

From the ad in Hemmings: “Located in Houston Texas, Muscle Carz is your premier source for Classic American muscle. Whether your interest is only in the skin deep beauty of these precious vehicles, the crazy displacement found under the hood that is no longer found in cars of today, or you merely want to relive the priceless memories of your past, MUSCLE CARZ is the place to stop. A collector for 15+ years, we retrieve these classic beauties from all over the United States, so no matter where you might be. The car of your dreams may just be a phone call away! Will consider trades.”

Do you think that Ford guys would really be interested in a Chevy powered Mustang. Why waste the space and it is really a insult to us Ford guys.

Talking

reminds me of my ol "61 chevy truck that I put a 289 in, ended up giving the truck away and kept the engine. maybe i should have sold it for a grand as i am sure there is a chevy guy out there that would want it, oh and i also had a 63 comet with a 283 chevy, should have sold it, dont know of any ford guy that would want a frankenstein, so i agree with cobra32. really dont have an interest in mixed breeds but i think the cobras were originally mixed (ac bristol/ford), and also the tigers (sunbeam/ford). Maybe one of those chevy guys that build 32 fords with a 350 would be interested in in a mustang with a corvette pp (powerplant)
