Mustang Milestones: 9,000,000th Mustang built, 100 early entrants for birthday cruise

While celebrating the Ford Mustang’s birthday in true fashion, the company was able to enjoy a couple of refreshing milestones that exemplify the vehicle’s continued establishment as the leading pony car in America.

First, on Tuesday, there was plenty of excitement within the Ford facilities in Flat Rock, Michigan. According to TheMustangNews, the company rolled out its 9,000,000th Mustang, sending it off to an anonymous dealership in the heart of America. No information has yet been made available regarding its color or even its model, but the milestone underlines 44 years of undying love for America’s favorite pony car.

Initially, it only took the Mustang two years to reach the first million, but number 9,000,000 represents the brand’s ability to stand the test of time, and America’s continued widespread reception of the car.

Birthday present number two also came this week. One week ago today, on April 17, registration opened for the 2009 cross-country cruise that will commemorate 45 successful years of the Ford Mustang, appropriately titled Mustangs Across America. Well, in less than one week, the event staff is happy to report that it has already received 100 entrants. Not only that, but TheMustangNews reports that the entries account for 18 states and five countries.

Of course, organizers of the event expect many more enthusiasts to follow suit, but the immediate response to a cruise taking place next year highlights the level of enthusiasm that exists today for the Ford Mustang.
