Ford will be recalling some 470,000 Ford Mustangs built between 2005 and 2008 to readjust the force of deployment in the front passenger side airbags.
In an interview with the AP, Ford spokesman Wesley Sherwood claimed internal testing has revealed the possibility that the small airbag might injure a small, unbelted passenger. The recall was posted Wednesday on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injury linked with the recall, according to Sherwood.
Along with the announcement, Ford plans to notify said consumers of these models in early March. The company suggests that they take their vehicles to a dealer, who can then recalibrate the airbags to deploy with less force.
