Rarely does a special edition Mustang’s name depict anything but exclusivity, quality or prestige. So, it was only fitting for the Ultimate Bad Boy Mustang to be named after its creator.
Tim Porter is known for his widely successful Cannonball runs in Europe, during which his ability to evade the constant barrage of police attention without so much as a speeding ticket earned him the title of “Carlos the Jackal.” Last summer, those runs made their way to America under the title of
The Great American Run, and have spawned the creation of Porter's own version of the American muscle: The Ultimate Bad Boy Mustang.
The final product will sit on 315x40x18s all around, not the 275 rears in the photo.
Just revealed several weekends ago at one of Porter’s parties in Indy, the 2008 Ultimate Bad Boy will churn out a walloping 1070 BHP at the wheels, pulling an impressive 2Gs on the track and revving a remarkable 8,500 RPM.
So how does a Bad Boy come into being? Porter starts with a brand new 2008 base Ford Mustang with side airbags.
The new Ultimate Bad Boy runs a modded GT Ford all-alloy 5.4 with a hairy cam and big charger 60 pound injectors. Oh, and don’t forget the massive polished Whipple supercharger. “When you lift the hood, you will know it means business,” says Porter.
The car is fitted with GR-40 Racing suspension which, according to Porter, doubles the BHM of the previous Saleen Bad Boy and “will pull your eyeballs out!” Add to that the 6-pot Brembo calipers with 15” rotors.
But one has to look to aesthetics to fulfill the Bad Boy benchmarks. That’s why the car sits on 315x40x18s cuffed with 10.5” rims. She’s totally re-trimmed and comes equipped with everything an avid enthusiast would ever need to disappear in the night, including laser proctor jammers and a rear light cutoff. Bad Boy? Badass.
The build is complete with a gold chassis plate with the build date and car number, included on all of Porter’s creations.
Porter looks forward to an upcoming matchup where he’ll put his Bad Boy up against
Tim Durham’s Bugatti Veyron. “I can and will beat him to 200 mph,” says Porter. “It should be fun. The car spits out three-foot flames on every gear change.”
According to Porter, the vehicles are now available for order from his 20,000 square foot shop in Indy, where he builds them himself. He only plans to build 25 cars this year, and delivery time is six weeks.
“We already have 17 orders to fulfill, so it’s looking good!” says Porter. “They won’t see this coming!”
