Post Knight Rider's KITT Spec Sheet

StangPlanet always aims to provide Mustang enthusiasts with the most thorough updates regarding the newest releases, but realize that the countless spec sheets released every week may seem somewhat repetitive. This week, however, NBC released the technical specifications for KITT, the co-star GT500KR of its upcoming remake series of Knight Rider. The list covers plenty of valid specs, but adds plenty of TV-worthy gadgets in true 80s tech thriller fashion.

For instance, Ford generally covers the grounds of “personal safety” by offering airbag protection and a standard seatbelt install. But I’ve never noticed “Internally launched reconnaissance drone (mini-KITT)” on any lists, nor have I seen “Access to military (DSCS - defense satellite communication system) and commercial satellite systems - provides real-time GPS/photographic info.”

The usual fixings of the impressive GT500KR are, of course, also included, but the radar KITT even boasts radar, sonar and x-ray systems. To prove that an uncomfortable ride in KITT is simply impossible, the folks at Knight Industries managed to fabricate “full medical diagnostic capability” stored in the seats, which are, of course, heated.

For the more upmarket models, the industry generally holds back final pricing figures until they hit dealerships, but the recent writer’s strike must have NBC in a cutthroat mindset—KITT’s tag is set at $45,567,999! Keep your eyes peeled to eBay for this one.

Knight Rider’s 2-hour debut premieres on February 17th on NBC. Check out the full spec list for KITT below.
