There’s nothing better than the streak of patriotic themes we’re seeing in the aftermarket Mustang production industry. Remember the
1972 Olympic Sprint? This time around, the theme isn't honoring the Olympics, but rather our military servicemen and women. Recently, we’ve seen the theme with the
2008 Roush P-51A Mustang, and now Saleen’s giving us their take: the 2008 Patriot American Flag Saleen Mustang.
Saleen plans to build 24 of the limited edition supercharged S281’s. Their superchargers tout an impressive 465 horses and 425 lb-ft. of torque. Expect a suspension upgrade sitting on 20-inch wheels and tires, and of course a body kit with adjustments to the front and rear fascia and side skirts. Eight of each color will be released—that’s red, white and blue for those of you keeping tabs.
But it’s not just about the paint job. If you’re an active military personnel, Saleen will be offering a $500 cash incentive in addition to one free day at its performance driving school. Sweet!
"At Saleen we value our military servicemen and women as they defend our country at home and abroad,” says the release. “They repesent the true pride and strength of America and as America's premiere niche vehicle manufacturer, Saleen wants to salute them.”
And Stangers aren’t wasting any time on banking from these—one model has already popped up on
eBay. Got $51,295? It’s yours.
