Post SEMA 2007: Retrobuilt.com's RSC-GT Mustang

When StangPlanet visited SEMA last week in Las Vegas, we saw a lot of eye-catchers. At one point, we approached a bright red ’67 Mustang that was so stunning, we had to get a closer look—only to discover that this ’67 was, in fact, an s197. The folks at Retrobuilt.com have made it their mission to revisit the style of the past with a splash of today’s automotive innovation. Clearly, they met their mark with their RSC-GT—their version of the 2008 Mustang GT.

Its exterior package is the most eccentric translation of the classic look we’ve seen in awhile, complete with the aluminum grilles by the tail lamps that set the car apart from most standard aftermarket add-ons. When you glance at the vehicle’s form, you have to stop and think: maybe this is truly what Ford envisioned when it rebuilt the Mustang with retro styling in mind.

Or, maybe this is the product of a couple hardcore enthusiasts who wanted to reinstate the classic muscle in today’s platform. The latter is probably a better assessment, we decided.

But they’re certainly qualified to be doing what they do. John Walvoord of Dallas, Texas and Clinton White of Ozark, Missouri are both self-described “car nuts” who “have a passion for keeping old and rare cars on the road.” They certainly fooled us with a new, not-so-rare platform into a custom retro masterpiece.
