Not your typical 1966 Mustang RESTOMOD

First off, I do not know if the rules bar 98% finished cars. I figured I would give it a shot. All it lacks is its rear seat delete kit being finished, seat belts, steering wheel, radio, a/c vents being painted and registration/insurance. It runs and drives and I even have a video of it out on its maiden voyage. If you do not allow unfinished cars, well maybe next year. Good luck to all those who are competing. There are some seriously nice rides on this forum.

UPDATE: Rear seat delete kit is finished, 4 point seat belts are in, steering wheel (WITH WORKING HORN!) is in, registered and insured and has made its first true maiden voyage.

Owner: Brian Minter

Car Name: Darlenie (Wife's middle name)

Color: Dark Shadow Gray Clearcoat Metallic

Year: 1966

Type: Coupe/Speedster

Engine: 302 bored .40 over = ~308 c.i.

Wheel Size: 16" (205/50ZR16 Tires)

Quarter Mile: Unknown, I do not plan on racing something that has taken 3 1/2 years to build

RWHP: Estimation 265 - 300

List of Modifications: I am going to have to break this down into sub categories I have done so much:

Exterior Modifications:
-First, that color was not available on the 1966 Mustang, the color is Dark Shadow Gray Clearcoat Metallic.
-All emblems removed
-Restomod 6 pc. bodykit from Mustangs Plus attached
-2005 16" Mustang wheels with 1" spacers. Tires are Kumho 205/50ZR16
-Brake drums painted flat black
-Windshield trim (front & back) powdercoated gloss black
-Gas tank filler cap and filler hole fiberglassed over. Rear panel painted flat black. Gas filler hole and cap relocated inside trunk
-Tri-bar headlamps with halogen bulbs and integrated turn signals
-Fiberglassed over front turn signals on front valence and reverse signals on rear valence
-GT 350 suspension modification made, car sits about 1 " lower than stock
-Body color bumpers both front and rear. Very limited chrome on the car (gives it a modern look)

Interior Modifications:
-Dash and interior door skins/back seat panels all painted body color + clearcoated
-Leather bucket seats out of a Saturn SC2.
-Instrument panel painted flat black
-4 point racing harnesses (not pictured)
-Grant leather padded steering wheel (not pictured)

Engine/Transmission Modifications:
-302/5.0 block bored .40 over
-Edelbrock Torquer II aluminum highrise
-Edelbrock 1406 4 bbl carburetor
-Hooker longtube headers
-2.5" stainless steel exhaust
-Flowmaster 1 chamber exhausts dumped
-T5 transmission from a 93 Mustang

Timeline/Inspiration:

I purchased a rustbucket clanger in August 2005...back when gas was cheap and money could go to other things other than my commute. Flat tires, rusting away..original engine was seized up. Truly a mess. I have a few photos of the condition I found it in. Well I took pity on this poor poor classic Mustang ( plus it was only $1200) and took it home. Over the past near 3 years I have breathed new life and a modern look into a once old and run down car. One less for the junkyard I say!!

Thanks for looking. If you appreciate someone bringing a classic back from the grave by sacrificing 149 of his Saturdays and countless thousands of dollars...please vote.
