Post SEMA: Classic Design Concepts takes home two top awards

This year’s SEMA Show was exciting all around, but it seems the nostalgic trends resonated quite a bit with the judges. Our friends at Classic Design Concepts really blew spectators away with their ’67 Flashback Mustang, the evocative masterpiece of George Huisman himself. They took away the Ford Motor Company’s Best of Show, Outstanding Achievement in Design Award this year at SEMA.

While any baby boomer’s heart may skip a beat with one glance at the Flashback, Classic Design Concepts can assure enthusiasts that she’s “new from the ground up.” While the styling cues are no indicator of this, its tight fit and finish throughout every inch of its exterior, interior, drive train and engine bay are second to none in modern innovation.

And there’s no question that this Flashback’s power output is just as impressive. We heard rumors at SEMA that she’s packing 600 horsepower, but that has yet to be proven. Either way, we were just as impressed as the judges were at this contemporary classic.

This Flashback is one of four ponies that were restructured from the ground up by Classic Design Concepts as part of their “Boomed” initiative. Another of the four is a true 1967 that has been thoroughly refurbished by the team, using all Ford OEM products and several accessories to make the Flashback more appealing to enthusiasts. Who thought they would have a problem with that?
