you are right, they have done a lot to help themselves, in fact, since i wrote that post the actual bailout was given. As you know, ford doesnt actually need any of the money in this bailout because of their relatively better financial position.
however, to defend myself, i will simply put this out there:
while ford has done a lot to help themselves, lets not forget that even when a company like ford is doing decent in this day and age, it wasnt me who asked the federal government for nine billion dollars, they did. ford is the luckiest of the big three and it seems, the only ones with any brains, but dont for a second think that they arent in a huge pot of trouble overall. the sad state of the american economy creates this issue: almost anyone can say that almost any company is doing poorly... and be right.
